About a year ago, Lilliana was asked to be on the Training Team at Bright Stars over in Egg Harbor Township. She lasted about 3 months but then was stressing out over the idea of competing. We had talks about ‘losing’ and that it’s ok to lose… and it motivates you to try better, to practice more … to try your best.
Fast forward to this year. I moved her to the in-house Silver team. She came in third after a fall trying a handstand on the beam. We were ok with it. You see, she actually TRIED a handstand. She didn’t just put her hands down and pretend … she was literally perpendicular to the beam + didn’t make the landing. But that third place has pushed her. So we are back on that Training Team. I wonder if I should have kept her on it last year + she’d be moving to USAG Level 3. Instead (fingers crossed) she moves to Level 2 in June.
